AK-Mail 3.2 |
This release improves the
security in two important areas: HTML and attachments. In addition
AK-Mail 3.2 comes with a greatly improved attachment management.
Attention registered users:
Starting with AK-Mail 3.1 pubbeta2a you
will need a new key. Your old key will no longer work except your key is
very new (received or updated by the end of December 1999). To update
your key, please follow the steps outlined below:
- Download the KeyUpdate-Tool
- Start your registered AK-Mail
- Start the KeyUpdate-Tool
- Select your old key. You'll normally
find it in the AK-Mail directory. Its name is always akmail.key
- Enter the name of an account (for
example "Default Account"). This account is used to communicate with
akmail.com
- The tool creates a special KeyUpdate
mail in your outbox. Send it.
- The key robot at akmail.com creates
a new key for you and emails it to your account (the one you chose in
step 5).
Notes:
- Please be patient. The expected
number of key updates is very large. This will cause significant
delays (currently 1-3 weeks, since the process is not fully
automated).
- The reason for this update are
non-working keymakers (cracks). AK-Mail seems to accept the invalid
keys, however, this is not true. Cracked keys trigger a whole bunch of
malfunctions. As a consequence people complained about "buggy" AK-Mail
features.
The new key system should make pure keymakers (without patching
akmail.exe) impossible
